Action Research Project

This Action Research Project, conducted for a Master of Education program, investigates whether Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles can enhance learning outcomes when applied to WhatsApp-based micro-modules designed for stress management. Recognizing that women face unique, interconnected stressors including career demands, caregiving responsibilities, health transitions, and evolving family roles the researcher designed a UDL-based micro-module that incorporates multimedia elements and flexible learning options, then compared its effectiveness against a traditional text-only version. The study aims to determine whether UDL features (such as multiple means of representation, engagement, and action/expression) measurably improve women’s comprehension, engagement, and confidence in stress-reduction skills. By piloting this innovative approach on WhatsApp, the project bridges the gap between nationally recognized best practices in inclusive education and real-world accessibility needs, addressing how women can access practical, flexible learning tools that accommodate diverse learning preferences while managing complex life demands.

ISTE Standard Alignment

ISTE 1-C: Research informed practice grounded in established literature on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and mobile learning to test evidence-based best practices within a localized educational context.

ISTE 5-A: Personalized learning experiences utilizes whatapp-based micro-modules and UDL principal to provide flexible, inclusive and mutimodal learning experiences tailored to specific needs of women.

ISTE 7-B: Data-Driven Assessment Employs both quantitative and qualitative measures to evaluate knowledge retention and engagement, comparing UDL-enhanced modules against traditional text-only baselines.
